1930’s COASTAL HOUSE REFURBISHMENT

This 1930’s detached house suffered a slightly split personality, with a hint of Art-Deco that was not fully explored. Extensive refurbishment has now fully realised that potential with a high level of detailing and care. Large Crittal windows, doors and screens feature prominently and the Art-Deco influence has spread throughout the property to bring cohesion and balance to the building. High quality finishes in generous internal spaces provide a sense of comfort and luxury. Many new Art-Deco elements required additional steelwork to create curved overhangs. Extensive landscaping completes the transformation.

Overall the house is a total joy. It is always bright and light, indeed a complete haven and retreat. The downstairs space works very well for us as a family and the flow in the main room and playroom/garden room is great. The utility room is so useful and it was a brilliant idea to have this as an entry on beach days. It really does work for everyone to dump all their sandy stuff outside and go through there straight to shower off the sand. I really feel like you did capture my wish to have Miami in Christchurch. You got it very right and we are delighted with the result.
